South Africa’s Foreign Ministry announced a meeting of BRICS foreign ministers in Cape Town on June 1

The meeting of the foreign Ministers of the BRICS countries will be held in Cape Town on June 1, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa reported.
“Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Naledi Pandor will host a meeting of BRICS foreign ministers on June 1, 2023 in Cape Town. The interim meeting provides an opportunity for the BRICS foreign ministers to reflect on regional and global developments,” the South African Foreign Ministry said in a statement. It is noted that after that, a meeting of the “Friends of BRICS” will also be held on June 2, to which the foreign ministers of 15 African and southern countries are invited.
BRICS unites Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. A number of other countries intend to join the economic bloc, including Argentina, Iran, as well as, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Indonesia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt.
