The share of the BRICS countries in Russia’s trade balance has doubled in two years, and settlements with them in national currencies have more than tripled, said the head of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina.

“It (the share of the BRICS countries, ed.) has become much larger, now it is about 40 percent. In 2022 it was less than 30 percent, and in 2021 it was about 20 percent,” she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The main ones for Russia’s settlements with the countries of the association are national currencies, including the ruble.

“Their share in trade with BRICS is now about 85 percent, two years ago it was 26 percent,” Nabiullina said.
Also, according to her, Russia is discussing with other BRICS countries the interaction of national financial communication systems, while 159 foreign participants from 20 countries have already joined the Russian platform.
